Our commitment to sustainable tourism is at the heart of everything we do, ensuring that the beauty of Rwanda’s natural and cultural heritage is preserved for future generations, while also improving the lives of local communities.
Our Bwiza Project
WOLF started The Bwiza Project, named after the Kinyarwanda word for “beautiful,” reflects our dedication to creating meaningful and sustainable change in Rwanda.
The project has two important components that allow us, and our travelers, to give back in a thoughtful and impactful way.
Part 1:
Providing Essential Health Insurance
For every traveler who books a tour with WOLF, we provide public medical insurance for one vulnerable individual in Rwanda.
The medical insurance is renewed annually, ensuring long-term health benefits for the most needy in Rwanda. In June, we proudly provided insurance to 104 people (22 families) living on Mwegerera Island in Lake Ruhondo, one of Rwanda’s Twin Lakes.
This initiative is fully funded by WOLF and does not come at any cost to our clients. By supporting the health of these communities, we are helping to create a foundation for a brighter, healthier future.

Part 2:
Sustainable Donations through Community Engagement
Donations go beyond a one-time gift; they contribute to long-term economic growth, job creation, and lasting benefits for future generations. It’s essential for us to respect the authenticity and culture of the people, while preserving the landscape, wildlife, and ecosystem.
For example, clients can donate a sheep, goat, or chicken. These donations are thoughtfully coordinated to ensure that the most vulnerable families receive them, along with education on how to use them sustainably and effectively.
We work closely with a local partner, Beyond Gorillas, to guide clients through the experience, ensuring that donations and interactions are handled respectfully and sustainably. Our clients love the opportunity to personally hand over their donations and see firsthand the positive impact they are making.
